Recent Success Stories

Hurricane Irene (2011) & Hurricane Sandy (2012): We represented business owners and homeowners on the Connecticut shoreline and inland who suffered severe damage from flood waters and high winds. Some clients had the unfortunate case of being hit by both storms, while others had gigantic trees in their living space. These clients appreciated our expertise and know-how when it came to adjusting their claim and helping them thru the chaos.

Frozen Pipes: Peck Place School Orange CT - January 6, 2014: We represented the Town of Orange, CT & The Board of Education when Peck Place was flooded by frozen pipes following Christmas vacation. Together with various town departments we coordinated all aspects of the claim adjustment process including moving and setting up of a temporary school on the Yale West Campus. Our Claim presentation included; Building damage details with expert reports for cabinetry, gymnasium flooring and mechanicals, air testing, remediation recommendations, etc. inventories of affected Teacher materials & furnishing and PTA belongings. Extra Expense claims included documentation of all necessary work done to prep the Yale building to house elementary age children, such as exit push bars, security & communication requirements. We worked with various town officials to coordinate a successful outcome. We negotiated a significant settlement which coincided with a bond renovation, combined repairs brought the building to like new condition for the grand-opening to start school in September 2014.

Bella Vista High Rise Community: New Haven CT August 2013: a three-alarm fire caused extensive damage to 19-story building D, one of five towers at Bella Vista, which houses seniors and disabled people. The electrical fire, spread from the 10th to the 14th floor, in about 45 minutes causing extensive damage. 324 apartments were affected and were inhabitable for several weeks. This claim included the relocation of 100’s of displaced residents while an new electrical system was fabricated and installed. Carabetta Management is a fully integrated real estate firm specializing in development, construction and property management and maintenance of 20,000.00 rental units in Connecticut and across the United States. We have represented Carabetta Management on numerous claims, big and small since 2000, Including an extensive fire at the home of Anna and Joey Carabetta, Meriden, CT in December of 2006

House Fire: the Sosa family- (2013) extensive damage Milford, CT.: After the firemen left most household possessions were ashes. We helped Luis and Kathleen recollect the contents of the house. We went to the Serv-pro warehouse and unpacked numerous crates & boxes (which had been taken days after the fire), to identified the things that were not cleanable in order to minimized the cleaning and storage bill and maximized the damage inventory. We packaged and prepared a detailed report and negotiate a total loss settlement with the Insurance Company. We helped the Sosa’s through the frustrations that come with a major property claim.

Military claims: Patrick Family Housing: 2004 Florida Hurricanes Francis and Jeanne. One of the largest claims involved all of the military housing at Patrick Air Force Base, 598 Separate buildings. Other military claims including, American Eagle 2008, Ft. Leonard Wood, Hascom AFB, Littlerock AFB, Navy Northwest, Moody AFB.

Lincoln Center in New York City: In 1996 we successfully adjusted a million dollar fire loss at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater at Lincoln Center.

Marinas: We adjusted major fire claims at marinas in Freeport Maine [1998] and Westbrook Connecticut [2004]. Extensive Hurricane Andrew damage to The Miami Beach Marina [1992].

Banks: We adjusted a typhoon damage claim to buildings in Guam owned by a major international bank.

Educational Institutions: Elementary School, Fairfield, Connecticut, a 1.3 million dollars mold and water damage claim. Norwich Middle School [2004]. Both Fairfield and Norwich interviewed several public adjusters and choose our firm. Fairfield University fire at Bannow Science Building [1987]. Milford, Connecticut fires at Meadowside and Point Beach Schools. Tornado damage Albertus Magnus College [1989]. Tornado damage Hamden Middle School 7.2 million dollars [1989]

Manufacturing plants and facilities: Jet engine rebuilding facility located at Miami International Airport, 10.4 million dollars [1992]. Copper and brass manufacturing plant Ansonia, Connecticut [2001]. Latex Foam Rubber plant Ansonia, Connecticut [Real Estate only 2000]. North Sail- Milford CT, (2008) damage to unique industrial machinery resulting in significant business interruption/production claim.

Resorts: Coco Lobo Plantation Resort on Anguila, B.W.I., [Hurricane Hugo 1989]. We successfully adjusted the Hurricane damage for this island resort. Coco Lobo Resort is considered to be among the top ten resorts in the world.

Residential Clients: Satisfied clients in this area include a former cabinet officer and the owners of a house in Gunnison Colorado settled in the millions dollars. Hundreds of major house fires have been successfully adjusted involving millions of dollars
